Hope on Wheels
Aug 16, 2011Did you know Hyundai helps fight cancer? Their united effort across the United States has helped raise millions of dollars for children fighting cancer. Hope on Wheels has been helping kids fight cancer since 1998 by helping to raise awareness about childhood cancer, celebrating the hope of survival and courageous children diagnosed, as well as supporting research and programs bringing us closer to the ultimate cure.
Silverback Advertising is proud to work with such a dedicated group of Hyundai dealers. Our Greater Charlotte Hyundai Dealers, along with the Hope on Wheels initiative, were able to give Dr. Javier Oesterheld, of Levine Children's Hospital, a $50,000 grant for pediatric cancer research in July 2011.
The Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia received a check of $40,000 in June 2011 to support childhood cancer research. The check was presented to Dr. Eric Lowe, director of pediatric oncology, from our Hampton Roads Hyundai dealers on behalf of Hope on Wheels.
Central Florida Hyundai Dealers, together with Hyundai Hope on Wheels, were pleased to award Dr. Don Eslin of the Arnold Palmer Medical Center Foundation with a Hyundai Scholar Grant in the amount of $50,000 for their pediatric cancer research in May 2011. Hyundai Hope on Wheels is planning to award a combined total of $2.7 million to 50 children's hospitals this year.
Hyundai Motor America together with Hope on Wheels, provided CHOC Children's Hospital in Orange County, CA with their largest corporate gift of $10 million to fund pediatric cancer research. In return, the hospital has named its cancer center of excellence the "Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC Children's." That's a HUGE honor and Hyundai owners should be proud to be a part of it.
Since the inception of Hyundai's Hope on Wheels nonprofit organization in 1998, the 800+ dealers and Hyundai Motor America have raised well over $23 million to children's hospitals across the country to help kids fight cancer. In September 2010, in honor of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Hope on Wheels tour was able to raise and donate $8.8 million.
With September 2011 quickly approaching, "Hyundai Gives Hope on Wheels" plans to continue their commitment of battling childhood cancer, or as their National Youth Ambassador, 13 year old Brianna Commerford, would say, their "journey to wellness." This year Hope on Wheels plans to focus on supporting the people and organizations that work directly with the children and their families fighting cancer.
Silverback Advertising could not be prouder to know we are a part of the hope that drives the success of such a wonderful nonprofit. One vehicle at a time, Hyundai is making a difference; thank you for being a part of it.
